BCFC: Raiders still perfect heading into bye week

It was billed as the game-of-the-year in the BCFC and the Vancouver Island Raiders and Okanagan Sun certainly didn’t disappoint last Saturday when the two previously undefeated teams went head-to-head at Caledonia Park.

In the end, it was the Raiders who emerged victorious improving their record to a perfect 5-0 by overcoming a 17-14 half-time deficit to post a 33-20 win over the Sun who fell to 4-1 on the season.

The two teams will clash again on the final weekend of the regular season on Sunday, October 9 at the Apple Bowl.

The Raiders-Sun tilt proved to be the most competitive game on the BCFC’s Week 5 schedule as the other two contests featured blowout scores. The Westshore Rebels (3-2) continued their trend of win one and lose one to start the season by pummeling the Kamloops Broncos (1-4) by a 47-0 score to rebound from a Week 4 loss to the Sun. The Broncos, meanwhile, have lost three in a row since opening the season 1-1.

The final Week 5 saw the Langley Rams (2-3) earn their second consecutive victory by knocking off the winless Chilliwack Huskers (0-5) by a 46-7 score at McLeod Stadium.

Week 6 is a bye week for all BCFC teams for the Labour Day long weekend. The regular season schedule resumes on Saturday, September 10.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
