BCFC VidSwap.com Players of the Week 8: Morris, Nakagawa, Flavel (video hilites)

The British Columbia Football Conference is pleased to announce their β€œVidSwap.com Players of the Week” for Week Eight of the 2011 season.


For the third time this year Westshore Rebels running back Greg Morris has been named the BCFC Offensive Player of the Week. Morris once again carried the Rebels load, leading them to their fourth win of the season in an impressive 35-28 victory in Langley. Morris carried 21 times for 151 yards and a major against a very quick and hard hitting Rams defence. His average run was 7.2 yards allowing the Rebels to try various things on offence.

Morris highlights:


Defensively a number of players had outstanding games; however a Rams’ linebacker was a head above the others. The BCFC Defensive Player of the Week is Arie Nakagawa who led the club with eight solo tackles, one assist and an interception for 29 yards in a losing cause. Nakagawa has been a force of the Rams this season and is finally awarded for his tireless efforts with his first player of the week award.

The Vancouver Island Raiders were the beneficiaries of great special teams play on the weekend, specifically the BCFC Special Teams Player of the Week, returner Taylor Flavel. He would return six punts 143 yards highlighted by a 66 yard return to the house. He would also return one kick-off 14 yards. It’s Flavel first award this season.

All three games in Week 9 fall on Saturday as the 8-0 Vancouver Island Raiders host the 4-4 Westshore Rebels at 2:00pm at Caledonia Park. The 7-1 Okanagan Sun will also play in a 2:00pm matinee as they travel to face the 0-8 Chilliwack Huskers. The lone night game will see the 1-7 Kamloops Broncos hosting the 4-4 Westshore Rebel s at 7:00pm.
