BCFC VidSwap.com Players of the Week 9: Yantz, Hamade, Deleon (video hilites)

The British Columbia Football Conference is pleased to announce their β€œVidSwap.com Players of the Week” for Week Nine of the 2011 season.


For the third time this season Vancouver Island Raider quarterback Jordan Yantz has been named the BCFC Offensive Player of the Week. Yantz continues to the be the leader for the Raiders finishing 12 of 19 for 244 yards against the Langley Rams last Saturday and threw four more touchdown passes. In the process Yantz sets a new Canadian Junior Football League record with his 85th career touchdown pass. He would also carry six times for 48 yards. Jordan won this award in Week One and Two.

For the second time this year the BCFC Defensive Player of the Week is Chilliwack Huskers defensive back Tanner Hamade. The Abbotsford native would pick off two passes and return them both for 55 yard touchdowns. His two interceptions now give him three on the season, setting a new BCFC record. He would add one tackle, one assist and a knockdown to his afternoon. Tanner won this award in Week Two.

The Vancouver Island Raiders set another new Canadian Junior Football League record this past weekend. They have scored 516 points in nine games setting the new record. They are the only team to score more than 500 points in a single season and they’ve done it twice. Adding to the 56 point outburst last weekend was the play of the BCFC Special Teams Player of the Week returner Andrew Deleon. He would return four punts for 103 yards including an 88 yard return for a touchdown. It’s the second consecutive week a Raider has won this award.

Plenty on the line this Thanksgiving weekend, the final weekend of the regular season. Saturday afternoon the 4-5 Langley Rams will travel to Westshore to face the 5-4 Rebels in a battle for third place. The night game will feature the 0-9 Chilliwack Huskers in Kamloops to matchup with the 1-8 Broncos. Sunday afternoon it’ll be a first place showdown when the 9-0 Vancouver Island Raiders are on the road to hook up with the 8-1 Okanagan Sun. Follow the BCFC on Facebook.
