BCFC – Week 8 players of week

The British Columbia Football Conference is pleased to announce the ā€œPlayers of the Weekā€ for Week Eight of the 2010 Season.

For the second time this season, the BCFC Offensive Player of the Week is Okanagan Sun quarterback Bobby Davis. The Kelowna native led the Sun to their seventh win of the year after throwing 16 of 21 for 368 yards and threw five touchdowns passes. Two of his scores were from 50 yards or more. He would also be dangerous on the ground, running 10 times for 40 yards. This is Davisā€™ first year as the starter for the Sun.

There havenā€™t been many bright spots for the 0-8 Chilliwack Huskers this season. However Saturday afternoon one player stood out against the two time defending national champions. Defensive back Jason Dumas has been named the BCFC Defensive Player of the Week and is the first Huskers player to win the weekly award. Dumas had two interceptions and gathered 59 return yards, four solo tackles, two special team tackles and two special team assists.

Okanagan Sun kicker Steve Shott is no stranger to the BCFC Special Teams Player of the Week award. This is the third time this season he has been recognized. Sunday afternoon in Surrey Shott was a one man wrecking crew making good on 4-5 field goals connecting twice from 20 yards out, along with 21 and 32 yarders and was 5-5 in converts. He would also compile six kick offs for 342 yards and four punts for 155 yards. Though his offensive stats donā€™t count for this award, Shott would also make five catches for 149 yards and had a touchdown. He would account for 23 of the 47 points the Sun would score.

Week 9 in the BCFC has a full slate of games, with one on Saturday and two on Sunday.
