Lac-Beauport defensive end joins OUA team’s 2014 class

Francis Gagnon is following his best friend to the Nation’s Capital.

The 6’3, 245 pound defensive end from Lac Beauport, Quebec has committed to the Ottawa Gees-Gees. Gagnon will join the team for the 2014 OUA season.

β€œI chose Ottawa because I had the feeling that it was the best place for me to play,” commented Gagnon of his commitment.Β  β€œMy best friend, Gabriel Caissy was already there and he plays the same position as me so it would be good for my integration.”
β€œMy friend told me the coaching staff was amazing and he was learning a lot of new things so it was a factor in my choice.”

Gagnon completed a stint with CEGEP Division 3 team, La Pocatiere Gaulois.Β  In 2013 the defensive end was ranked second on the defensive line with 42 total tackles (30 solo tackles, 10 assisted tackles) and also had field goal block Additionally, he recorded seven sacks, which ranked him first in the league. A wide receiver throughout his career, Gagnon made the switch over to the defensive end position last year.
