Position: Head Football Coach
Job Description:

The Department of Athletics at Bishop’s University is seeking applications for the position of Head Football Coach. Only those individuals with a proven ability to develop a program of excellence and an outstanding record of achievement should apply. Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the incumbent is responsible for the successful operation of the varsity football program. Leadership skills, recruitment strategies, fundraising potential and a demonstrated ability to develop a strong football program are essential characteristics of this position.

The Head Football Coach manages a staff of two full-time coaches and approximately ten part-time coaches and staff.

He/she manages an annual budget for the football program and is also responsible for the running of the Gaiter Football School. He/she will develop and implement, in collaboration with the recruitment office, a strategic plan for the recruitment of student-athletes who excel both on the field and in the classroom.

This position is for a two-year term with possibility of renewal based on performance results and objectives.
Nature of duties
– Responsible for all duties related to the recruitment of student-athletes;
– Responsible for all practice and game plan preparations and implementation;
– Manage the annual budget;
– Responsible for the hiring, supervision, management and performance review of all football staff;
– Monitor the academic progress of the student-athlete;
– Develop and implement a yearly plan for football student-athletes;
– Represent Bishop’s University at both provincial and national football coaching associations;

Qualifications and Requirements
– Minimum 5 years coaching experience, preferably as Head Coach;
– Strong leadership and management skills;
– Level III National Coaching Certification, an asset;
– Experience at the college, junior, university or professional level, an asset;
– Coaching with student-athletes aged 17-24 years is preferable;
– Experience in recruitment is necessary;
– Ability to liaise with other University departments and services;
– Strong written and verbal skills in English, proficiency in French, an asset;
– Willingness to work outside of regular office hours;
