Bishop’s defensive lineman Ngoyi Benches 40 reps at CFL Combine, tied for second all-time

TORONTO – On the second day of the CFL Combine presented by Reebok, Bishop’s defensive lineman Elie Ngoyi flirted with a record — benching 225 pounds 40 times, the second highest total in combine history.

CFL Ngoyi

Ngoyi was one of 55 players to work out in front of CFL general managers, scouts and coaches from all CFL teams today in Toronto. His 40 reps on the bench press tied Wilfrid Laurier running back Mike Montoya and was seven short of the record set in 2011 by another Golden Hawk, offensive lineman Michael Knill.

CFL Robertson

Kristopher Robertson, a defensive back from Concordia who was invited to the combine after a strong showing at the regional combine in Quebec City, had the longest broad jump (10’5.50″) and highest vertical jump (43″) on the day.
