Bishop’s the place where Brockville recruit “can improve”

Brockville LB joins RSEQ team’s 2016 class.

In the coming days, Calvin Defayette will be begining the next phase of his gridiron career in Quebec.

The 6’0, 205 pound linebacker from Brockville, Ontario has committed to Bishop’s Gaiters. He will join the team for the 2016 RSEQ season.

“I committed with Bishop’s University because I feel like I can improve as a student as well as a football player,” explained Defayette of his decision.  “I’m also a fan of the smaller school environment as the population sits around 2700.”

As both a running back and linebacker for the Brockville Collegiate Institute Red Rams of the Leeds and Grenville Secondary School Athletic Association (LGSSAA), Defayette was named the team’s Defensive Player of the Game for his performance at the 2014 Brockville Bowl.

In 2015, Defayette suited up for the Kingston Grenadiers of the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL).  However, his season was prematurely cut short after a game and a half as he sustained a broken leg.  He was able to amass 357 rushing yards on 43 carries and four touchdowns.
