Bisons announce commitment of trio of BC recruits, including #CFC100 Walker

Manitoba Bisons  is pleased to announce the commitment of #CFC100 quarterback/receiver/defensive back Jesse Walker, 2014 BC High School ‘AA’ Player of the Year, for the 2015 season. In addition, offensive lineman Easton Garard and linebacker/running back Caleb Abraham both also commit to the Bisons.

Bisons Head Coach Brian Dobie, now into his 20th season with Manitoba, discussed the importance of all three B.C. recruits and especially #CFC100 Walker,

“We are ecstatic to have all three football players from B.C. commit and sign with the University of Manitoba Bisons,” commented Dobie.  “Jesse is an impact and dynamic player that will be a game changer and this three signing culminates one of the best recruiting class ever for the Bison Football program.”

Jesse has been one of the most highly sought out recruits across the country over the last couple seasons while Easton and Caleb bring a tremendous skill set and hard work ethic to our program. With all three players signing over the last couple days, it signifies the continuing success of our recruiting in B.C. over the last two decades and we are very proud to welcome Jesse, Easton and Caleb as Manitoba Bisons.”

Jesse Walker Commitment 2

#CFC100 Walker, completed his high school at Mission Secondary School and played at multiple positions for the Roadrunners.

– The Mission, BC native had an incredible grade 12 season. He produced 3,048 All-Purpose Yards and 45 touchdowns; Rushing: 1,968 yards, 183 Attempts 10.75 yards per carry for 32 touchdowns; Passing: 531 yards, 7 Touchdowns; Kick Return: 317 yards, 3 touchdowns; Punt Return: 232 yards, 2 touchdowns; Defense: four interceptions (two returned for touchdowns) and 25 tackles

– The 6’2”, 195 lbs. projected receiver was named as 2014 BC High School AA Player of the Year and Provincial and Conference All-Star

– In addition, he was 2014 Senior Conference MVP
– In 2013, 2,131 All-Purpose Yards and 21 touchdowns. Rushing- 620 yards, 10 touchdowns; Receiving- 560 yards, 6 touchdowns; Passing- 433 yards, 5 touchdowns; Kick Return- 267 Yards. Split Returner.; Punt Return- 256 yards; Defense: played Corner with 26 tackles and six interceptions (two returned for TDs) and two fumble recoveries

– In 2013, Walker was named 2013 Junior (Gr.11) Conference MVP; 2013 Junior (Gr.11) Conference Offensive All-star; 2013 Junior (Gr.11) British Columbia AA Player Of The Year plus Provincial All-Star

“Family is everything and that’s where it all started,” commented the #CFC100 recruit of his commitment.  “I’m doing this for them and the success I achieve is gonna be because of the people that lifted me up and not down.”

Easton Garard commitment

Garard, 18, finished his high school at Mt. Douglas Secondary and was an award winner with the Rams in 2014 season.

– The 6’6”, 245 lbs. offensive lineman was part of the Rams making the 2014 provincial final and being named 2014 championship final Outstanding Lineman despite the loss

– He was a 2014 BC AAA Provincial All-Star and Western Conference All-Star

Caleb Abraham

Abraham, 18, finished his high school at Surrey-Lord Tweedsmuir and made an impact on both sides of the ball with the Panthers in 2014.

– The 5’10”, 210 lbs. linebacker/ running back was part of the Panthers making the 2014 provincial quarter-final and ran for 121 yards on 21 carries with one TD despite the playoff loss

– Football BC included 11 local players on rosters of two provincial teams (Grade 8 team and a U18 squad), which competed at the Tanoa Bowl Classic in Auburn, Washington Dec. 28 and Abraham was part of the U18 team

– He was a 2014 BC AAA Provincial All-Star and Western Conference All-Star

– Part of Team BC in 2014

– In 2014 stats: on defence in nine games: 61 tackles, six sacks, three forced fumbles, two interceptions, one fumble recovery and one TD while on offence in nine games: 1,300 rushing yards with eight yard average

 

BISON NOTES: There has now been five major B.C. high school recruits announced by the Bisons for the upcoming 2015 season. Along with Walker, Garard and Abraham, Manitoba signed earlier in the recruiting season: defensive end Mike West, 17, – 2014 BC High School AAA Player of the Year, and running back Jamel Lyles, 18, – 2013 League MVP.
