Bisons footballer accused of extortion

A University of Manitoba Bisons football player wanted in the United States for extortion was arrested Thursday in Winnipeg.

Earlier in the week, sheriffs in Alberta and the U.S. Marshals Service asked Winnipeg officers for help executing a Canada-wide warrant for the man.

He was arrested Thursday at 4:30 p.m. near the U of M campus at Kings Drive and Freedman Crescent. Delano Tennent, 23, of Edmonton, is in custody at the Winnipeg Remand Centre.

Previous to the Manitoba Bisons, the defensive lineman played for the Edmonton Wildcats and Minot State in North Dakota (NAIA).

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
