Another CJFL product has chosen the University of Manitoba to further their football and school goals with his commitment to the Bisons. Adam Neiles, a 6’0″, 210# LB from the Winnipeg Rifles is the 10th and latest Winnipeg product to join the Bisons. Adam previously played for the Greendell Falcons of the Manitoba Midget Football League and was a student at Glenlawn Collegiate.
“From the CIS perspective, junior football is a great developmental league, especially for linebackers who really need to have great instincts and experience to compete at the CIS level,” says Chris Clement, Manitoba Recruiting Co-Ordinator.
Adam feels very comfortable with the Bison program, and made specific mention of the defensive system as a draw for him. “I’ve admired the program since I was a kid and always saw it as an amazing place to play football. I’ve been a student at the University for the last two years which showed me how great it would be to have the opportunity to be a Bison athlete, which along with my dad being an alumnnus and a huge supporter of my football career just made the decision that much clearer for me. As far as my goals for this year I want to just take it all in and really buy into the program. I’m hoping to become a student of the system Coach Pierre runs and showcase not only my athletic abilities but also my ability to play within his defence. As a young player on a team with so much talent I just want to develop and learn a lot as a player and hopefully get an opportunity to step on the field and play some football.”
Adam is also a legacy recruit, as his father, Kevin, was a Bison football player himself in the 1970’s, as well as a CFL player for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, among other teams, and won the 1984 Grey Cup with Winnipeg. “I am very excited for Adam and his upcoming experience with Bison football. It brings back great memories of my experience as a student-athlete and the opportunities that it brings both athletically and vocationally. Football, both at the university and professional level definitely affected the path I took and hopefully will create the same opportunities for Adam. He has worked incredibly hard and deserves this opportunity!”
”Adam is a great addition to our team and we’re excited to once again reunite the Neiles family and the Bison family.Β  Kevin was a great player for the Bisons and is now a pillar of the Winnipeg community, and Adam comes to us after a great season with the Winnipeg Rifles.” said Bison Head Coach Brian Dobie. “We expect Adam to bring a lot of maturity and experience to a linebacking group that needs to replace several veteran departures.”
Adam is the second linebacker of the Bison recruiting class, and the 19th overall recruit. He is the second Winnipeg Rifles player and the seventh with CJFL experience, part of the Bisons’ long history of junior football recruiting.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
