Matt Kaneski, a 6’0″, 260 pound OL from Winnipeg’s St. Paul’s program, has become the fourth #CFC100 player to commit to the Bisons in 2016. The 51st ranked player in Canada, Kaneski becomes the fifth offensive lineman to join Manitoba’s group this year, adding elite talent to one of the strongest and deepest groups in the nation.

Terry Watson, longtime OL Coach with Manitoba, looks forward to having Matt’s attitude in his group. “Matt Kaneski is a great local talent that comes from a program with a long history of success. He will bring his winning mentality to help us continue to reach out team goals.”

Matt saw this moment as the natural culmination of a long process. “Signing with the Bisons is something that I’ve looked forward to for a long time.Β  I’ve enjoyed the recruiting process and made a point of not rushing the decision given the opportunities that were available to me, but I really like what coach Dobie has done with the program and feel that the University of Manitoba is where I belong.Β  There’s no other place that I would want to spend the next 5 years than at home playing the game I love.”

Bison HC Brian Dobie is well aware of Kaneski’s strong play and the impact he has on teams. “Coming from the storied program at St. Paul’s, Matt is known for his technically astute play on the field as much as his character and leadership off the field. We are honoured that he has chosen to stay in Winnipeg to play for his hometown program.”

Chris Clement, Bison Recruiting Co-Ordinator, had this to say about Kaneski’s commitment. “Obviously Matt is a good football player, and he has already been recognized by CFC for this when he was named a member of the 2016 #CFC100. Adding him to our group brings depth and quality that will improve an already strong line.”

Matt Kaneski is the 18th recruit of the Bisons class, and the 10th from Manitoba. His highlights can be viewed here:Β http://www.hudl.com/athlete/2841239/highlights/312334376
