Bisons sign British Columbia recruit

The University of Manitoba Bisons Football program is pleased to announce the addition of a recruiting commitment, a defensive lineman from British Columbia, Travis McDonald.
Travis McDonald is a 19 year-old, 6’6″, 260# player from Duncan, BC, where he played most recently for the Cowichan Bulldogs of the Vancouver Mainland Football League, his team since the age of 7. Travis is also a graduate of Cowichan Secondary School. Although he enters the Bisons program as a defensive tackle, he was a contributor at multiple positions for the Bulldogs, playing nearly every position on the field at different times.
Bison Head Coach Brian Dobie sees Travis as part of the future of the program.
“Travis has a really impressive frame and a ton of upside. I’m excited to see where he will end up after a year or two in our program. Players that big who move like that are hard to find.”
Chris Clement, Recruiting Coordinator for the Bisons, emphasized the importance of the defensive line.
“Every team in the country is always clamouring for interior defensive line talent. I knew Travis was a player we needed to have on our roster and I’m very glad he felt the same way.”
Travis credits his family and hometown for preparing him to take the next step.
“I am honoured to have this opportunity to be a Bison and look forward to attending U of M. I would like to thank all of the volunteers of Cowichan football and would like to thank my mom Trina for everything.”
Travis is the second defensive lineman, and the third recruit from British Columbia.
