BLOG: Keys for the game between Stingers & Carabins

On Saturday afternoon The Concordia Stingers will be hosting the University de Montreal Carabins. The game is going to provided with a clear picture on who is second in the RSEQ this year. Both teams have a record of 4-1 and both of the team loses came from Laval Rouge et Or. IF Concordia wins they are likely going to move up in the CIS top 10 from 9 to 6 and if Montreal wins, Stingers could be knocked out of the CIS top ten.The Stingers are trying to find their winning ways after they were beaten Laval last week,34-16 while Montreal defeated Sherbrooke 22-16.

How Montreal can beat the Concordia Stingers?
The first way, the Carabins do have a chance of getting the win is to make sure the Concordia Stingers do not have a chance to score many points. The Stingers have on average scored 34.8 PPG which is good enough for them to be ninth in the country in that category. The Carabins have also only allowed their opponents to only score 16 points against them. The next way is if the Carabins can get their magic duo of Mikhail Davidson and Gabriel Cousineau rolling early like they did last week. The Carabins first play on offense against Sherbrooke was an 105 yard pass and catch play between the magic duo. Davidson this season as caught five touchdowns and also has 531 receiving yards to his name. Davidson is ranked sixth in the nation in receiving yards. If Montreal prevails it will be the school fifth straight win this season .

How Concordia Stingers can beat the Montreal Carabins?
The Stingers to get the win will have to play tough and mean on defense. The Stingers defense job will be trying to force the Carabins to make mistakes and turn the ball over. The Concordia Stingers defense has 14 interceptions and six fumble recoveries this season. The Stingers DB/HB,Kris Robertson has four pickoffs in five games and is second in the CIS in interceptions. The Stingers defense will have tough task on their hands as Carabins QB, Gabriel Cousineau has thrown for 1420 yards and averages about 284 yards per a game. He also has 10 passing touchdowns this year. The Stingers on the offense side of the ball are an perfect 16/16 when they enter the redzone this year. The Stingers average 357 yards per a game but only 107.4 rushing yards per a game something they have to improve on. The real issue of their rushing attack is that Gunner Tatum has returned back to Texas so that he can recover from an concussion he suffered in week 3 against Sherbrooke Vert et Or. The Concordia Stingers last week in their lost to the Laval Rouge et Or had some key injuries as they lost starting QB,François Dessureault in middle of first quarter and Jamal Henry early in the first quarter. Will the Stingers be starting first year QB, Colin Sequeira who was great in relief last week against the best team in football.Sequeira completed 21 passes out of 36 plus threw for 238 yards and had one touchdown and one pick.

My pick-I believe it will be a very close game and the two teams are very even match. The Stingers have better defense and defense usually wins games. My final score is 33-30 for ConU.
