Last week a friend of mine who I coached with in India (Deante Battle of the National Champions Warclaw Giants) came up to Sopot to hang out since I have not seen him in over a year and a half.  He also came out to help with practice since he was a DB at Northwestern and to this day is still a great player and coach  Before practice we met in the center of Sopot for a beer and caught up.  Then we went to get some food before we had to head to practice and saw a restaurant called The Mexican.  Once again my hopes were not too high since I have been let down so many times in the past.  I ended up ordering Fajitas and this time I see a picture of them and they look legit.  Deante and Kasia ordered the same thing.  The waitress asked us if we want spice and we all say yah.  Then she asked if we want real spicy and knowing that whenever anyone in Europe says spicy its not. Deante and I say yes we want the spiciest.   When the fajitas came out they looked almost perfect.  The sizzling hot plate, salsa, guacamole, and sour cream on the side, a small dish for the tortillas.  Did I just find the Mexican food I have traveled Europe for?  After the first bite I was sold.  This was by far the best Mexican food I have had in Europe.  It was so tasty and holly shit it was the spiciest thing I have ever had in Europe,  I had to take my time eating it because it was so hot.  Deante was sweating and I even started to tearing up but it was so good.  I will tell you that I will be going back there again very soon.  Maybe Ill make  it a weekly thing if I can find some players who want to go.  Its in the middle of Sopot so its not the cheapest but its still not bad.  It was 30zl (10 dollars) for the meal.

It was a great all around week for the Sabercats and me here in Sopot.  On Saturday we got on the bus to head to a city called Torun to play the 1st place Angels.  The Angels, Seahawks, and us were all in a 3 way tie for first place and since this was the last game of the regular season and with a win we were in the playoffs, it was the most important game the Sabercats have been in.  After a 3 hour drive we got to the field and guys were pumped to play.  There were allot of fans there as well for both sides, as well as the local media and I saw around 6-7 photographers.  On defense we started off real slow giving up a TD on the first drive.  We were terrible at setting the edge and they exploited it the first drive moving at will down the field.  After that first TD I am happy to say that we did not give up another point the rest of the game.  This game we were the exact definition of bend but don’t break defense.  In the 4th quarter the offense was about to score and go up by 3 scores when we fumbled the ball and the Angles returned it 80 or so yards for a TD.  They later got a safety and instead of being up by 3 scores we were only up 5 points.  The defense went back out there and on the first play they tried to run a fake fast screen to the #1 wr and then have #2 run a wheel but we defended it perfectly and my FS Koni got the INT and let the offense take back over where they kept the ball till the time ran out.  Everyone was so excited jumping around that 2 years ago when there was just an idea for a team that Luke Zetazate, Michael Tirrell, Michal Radelicki, and a few others actually made it happen and through all the hard work in only the teams 2nd year we are in the playoffs.

On the way home from the game we stopped at a fast food place that we wont name and there was a kids play area that had a basketball hoop and mini basketballs.  CK, a few other guys, and I were dunking around and then started taking pictures of us dunking on each other.  The employees were just staring at us like we were crazy.

Now we have to wait til next weekend for the last games for other teams to see who we play in the Quarterfinals.  So this week we are taking off since we don’t play till the end of September.  This weekend I will be heading to Poznan with some of my junior players to help out with a camp and a tournament on Sunday since we are combining with another team so make a full team.   The plan is next season to have a Jr team but we want our Jr kids to play some games and not just practices with the Sr team so it will be a good experience for them to get some game time.

The next day (Sunday) I took Kasia to Sopot and to the pier.  I have been waiting to do this because you have to pay to walk on the pier and I have a hard time paying to walk on a dock so I wanted to do it with her.  It was built in 1827 and is the longest wooden pier in Europe, stretching 511 meters (over 1500 feet)  It has a very nice and expensive restaurant in the middle of it and you will see nothing but fancy boats there since its so expensive to park your boat.  We spent about an hr just walking around listening to music and dodging all the tourists.   It really is a cool thing though especially that its made of wood.
