BLOG: Saturday’s sacks

Firstly I would like to apologize as this should as came on the right day but I’ve been busy writing midterms. So here is my second edition of my blog feature – Β Thursday sacks (two days later on Saturday) where we discussed great defensive performances from the previous week of the RSEQ action. Turkey week only produced two games as both Sherbrooke and Laval had their bye weeks. The first game which was played last Thursday saw the Bishop Gaiters getting their first win of the year as they beat the McGill Redmen by a score of 17-13 in what I’ve have been told was not an exciting game. The other game of the week saw the battle for second place in the RSEQ on the line as the Concordia Stingers hosted the Montreal Carabins in what should have been a closer game but the Carabins took advantage of the Stingers missing their QB and three wide outs as they proved their dominance. The final score saw the Carabins win big, 36-3. The Stingers have now lost two straight games after starting the year with four straight wins. Stingers two losses were against the two top teams in the RSEQ.

Defensive star for the McGill Redmen was linebacker, Karl Forgues. Forgues in the lost to the Gaiters had 10 tackles. He also added 1 sack. He also two tackles for a loss of 12 yards. Honorable mention goes to Redmen defensive end, Devon Stewart who had two sacks which result in loss of 17 yards.

Defensive star for the Bishop Gaiters was Steve McCollum. McCollum in the victory over the Redmen had 8 tackles. He also added a sack which resulted in 8 yard loss. He also had 2.5 tackles per a lost which resulted in 12 yards.

Defensive star for the Montreal Carabins was linebacker Archambault, Byron. Archambault had an amazing as he had seven tackles. He also had 1.5 sack which resulted in a loss of 14 yards. The last thing was he had 4.5 tackles per a lost which resulted in the loss of 18 yards. He also leads the CIS in sacks this year. Due to his performance against the Stingers he was named Defensive player of the week in the RSEQ.

Defensive star for the Concordia Stingers was Gregory Beaulieu. Beaulieu had 2.5 tackles but also had one sack which resulted in a loss of 14 yards. The Stingers defensive sacked the University de Montreal QB, Gabriel Cousineau four times which resulted in the loss of 34 yards. University de Montreal only sacked Stingers QB’s twice which result in a loss of
