Welcome to my first edition of Thursday Sacks.
The goal of this blog post is to talk about the defensive performances in RSEQ every week. But first just a little recap from the weekend action.
The Laval Rouge Et Or continued their dominance in RSEQ as they beat the Concordia Stingers on Sunday by a score of 32-16.The Rouge et Or win was their 68 straight win at home.There is no place like PEPS for Rouge et Or. On Saturday, The Universite de Montreal Carabins who has been the second or third best team in RSEQ this year continued their winning streak as they beat Sherbrooke Vert et Or in a close game,22-16.
The Concordia Stingers defense did a good job in stopping the legend of Hugo Richard this weekend. Richard only threw for 215 yards and was 17 out of 29 and had one touchdown. Stingers did pick him off once.Richard had 30 yards rushing and two rushing TD(1 and 6 yarders).Laval in their previous two games scored 70 points and only on Saturday they scored 32 points.
Laval defense forced the Stingers to commit two safeties in the victory.The Rouge et Or for most of the game did not allow any points until Keegan Treloar kicked a field goal late in the third quarter. The Stingers usually score 34 PPG.
The Universite de Montreal Carabins defense had four sacks in their victory. Alex Cromer-Émond had two sacks and eight tackles.Byron Archambault had the other two sacks and had eight tackles.
Sherbrooke Vert et Or defense limited the Montreal Carabins to only score 22 points.The Carabins have scored forty or more points every game this season.
The defensive POW in the RSEQ was Laval Rouge et Or DE,Vincent Desloges who had three sacks in the victory over the Concordia Stingers.
