NSSAFFL All-Star linebacker first local recruit to join AUS team’s 2014 class.

A Nova Scotia defensive standout has opted to stay in his home province for the next stage of his gridiron career.

Yesterday, Jesse Boudreau committed to the Acadia Axemen.  The 6’2, 215 pound linebacker from Bedford, Nova Scotia will join the team for the 2014 AUS season.

“Acadia has grabbed the best linebacker in the Maritimes in Jesse Boudreau – Nova Scotia defensive player of the year,” commented Axemen Head Coach Jeff Cummins.  “Jesse has all the qualities you want in a guy who plays in the middle of your defense and he is a poster child for our program – great player, great person, great student and weight room guy.”

“He wants to be great like his predecessors; Shad McLachlan, Steve Faoro and Tom Labenski – all three of which were defensive players of the year in the AUS.  We are extremely excited to have Jesse join the Axemen family!”

This past season, Boudreau led the Charles P Allen Cheetahs of the Nova Scotia Student Athletic Federation Football League (NSSAFFL) to an undefeated 8-0 record en route to an appearance in the Tier 1 Nova Division Championship Final.  For his exceptional play on the field, he was named NSSAFFL Nova Division’s Co-Defensive MVP and selected to the Nova Division First All-Star team at the linebacker position.

In May 2013, the Nova Scotia linebacker guided the Metro Mustangs to the inaugural Nova Scotia Indoor Spring League (NSISL) Championship.

Boudreau has also represented his home province as a member of Team Nova Scotia at two consecutive Football Canada Cups – 2012 in London, Ontario and this past July in Moncton, New Brunswick.
