Brampton Bears Still Making Progress

On Saturday, September 11th, the Brampton Bears played against one of the longest standing teams in the Ontario Football Conference at their home field located at St. Marcellinus S.S. at Mavis and Courtneypark Drive in Mississauga.

They are clearly improving weekly – but not enough to obtain more than 2 points against the St. Leonard Cougars’ 24 points. The Bears gained 200 offensive yards and made some great defensive stops during the game against their Quebec opponents. Although the Bears played a good running game, they just couldn’t seem to pass the ball in tonight’s game.

They are growing consistently, but have had to deal with the loss of a key player, wide receiver/running back Ryan Hector who has returned to high school, as well as having to say goodbye to their kicker, Teddy Peters, who will also be returning to high school next week.

As stated by Coach Houlder, in order to be successful, it is necessary to put the three parts of the game together simultaneously. We are looking forward to welcoming new players on the team.

The Bears will be on a bye week next weekend and will play their next game on Saturday, September 25th at Alumni Stadium on the University of Windsor campus where they will take on the AKO Fratmen.
