Warren Goldie named new X-Men offensive coordinator

(Antigonish, NS) — StFX football head coach Gary Waterman is pleased to announce the appointment of Warren Goldie as the new offensive coordinator for the X-Men program.

“I am extremely thrilled to announce Warren Goldie as our new offensive coordinator,” comments Coach Waterman. “He is a tremendous football coach and a brilliant strategist. I know that the entire X-Men coaching staff will benefit greatly from his experience and technical knowledge.Warren has a proven track record of success, and his ability to develop quarterbacks make him a perfect fit and timely hire.”

With two decades of coaching experience, Goldie most recently has trained and mentored some of the best quarterbacks in Eastern Ontario area through his company QBMAD. He spent nearly a decade on the Queen’s University coaching staff between 2000-2008, coaching mainly their quarterbacks and receivers. His time at Queen’s included a three year stint as their offensive coordinator where he coached numerous athletes who went on to play at the CFL and NFL levels.

In addition, Coach Goldie has over five years coaching experience in the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL) and will be the head coach of the Durham Dolphins in the inaugural Ontario Provincial Football League (OPFL) upcoming season. A native of Kingston, Ont., Goldie was a varsity athlete with Western University, enjoying great success with two trips to the Vanier Cup, including a championship in 1994.

He is looking forward to joining the X-Men program commenting, “This is a very exciting opportunity to be involved with a university that is so steep in tradition. I see the X-rings worn proudly, and that is in part from the ongoing success of the athletic program. I look forward to working with a great group of young men motivated by last year’s success, and coaching on a staff that brings such a high level of passion.”

Goldie is expected to arrive at StFX in his new coaching role in late February.
