The British Columbia Football Conference (BCFC) is pleased to announce their 2010 regular season schedule.
The six team league will begin play on Saturday July 24 will a full slate of games. The two time defending national champion Vancouver Island Raiders will begin defence of their title at home against the South Surrey Rams. The last time these two teams met was in the Cullen Cup Final in the fall, with the Raiders coming out victories in a very physical game.
The Victoria Rebels will begin a new era with new head coach John Cardilicchia on the road in Chlliwack. While the Huskers will also have a new head coach this season in Luke Acheson looking to get back to the playoffs.
The Okanagan Sun have a new President and will have a new quarterback after Derek Mann’s graduation. The Sun are hoping to return to the Cullen Cup final, a game they missed last year for the first time in 23 years. The Kamloops Broncos will host the Sun in the Week One, looking to make some large leaps after a 2-8 record in 2009.
After the amalgamation of the Rams and the Vancouver Trojans, the BCFC will play a balanced 10 week schedule, with each team playing each other twice. For the first time in recent memory the BCFC has scheduled each team to play their opponent in back to back weeks. These games are scheduled in weeks three and four as well as in weeks nine and ten.

BCFC President Frank Naso says, “The process of developing the BCFC schedule is a difficult task. Many factors come into consideration during the process including the availability of stadiums – all are public facilities and are shared with other user groups. Other considerations include travel (particularly the Island versus Interior team match ups), the objective of having a conference wide bye on the Labour Day weekend and having “rivalry games” on appropriate weekends.”
Naso continues, “There is a lot of back and forth during the process and there was a lot of great cooperation between the clubs, once again demonstrating the quality people involved in our organization. The end result is that the 2010 BCFC schedule met almost all the objectives that we had hoped – and should make for a good season.”
The BCFC winner will host the 2010 Intergold Game, the national semi-final against the winner of the Ontario Football Conference the weekend of October 30th. The Canadian Bowl will be hosted by the Prairie Football Conference Champion the weekend of November 13.
The BCFC will hold their Annual General Meeting on Saturday March 27 at the Langley Events Centre from 11am – 3pm. All are welcome to attend.
