Brotherly duo commits to Bisons

The University of Manitoba Bisons Football program is pleased to announce the addition of two recruits who have recently committed to the matriculating class of 2016. Brothers Parker and Quinton Bowles have pledged to the Bisons for the upcoming season.
The two brothers are Winnipeg transplants, being former players for the Dakota Lancers of the WHSFL. The elder brother Quinton has most recently been playing for the Vancouver Island Raiders of the BCFC, and Parker is set to graduate from John Barsby high school in Nanaimo, BC.
“It’s really great to see a pair of young man with such a proud connection to their hometown,” says Brian Dobie, Head Coach of the Bisons. “I’ve known the Bowles family for several years and it’s a real treat to finally have these two fine young men backin Winnipeg. Obviously, it’sΒ also great to add a couple of quality players to our defensive front.”
Quinton Bowles is a 6’5″, 230# DE. QuintonΒ is a BCFC All-Star with the VI Raiders, and the team MVP. After graduating from Dakota in Winnipeg he chose to move to Nanaimo with his family and play junior football, where he has enjoyed a stellar CJFL career prior to his decision to make the transition to the CIS.
Quinton felt a very natural connection to the Bisons.Β “My decision to sign with the University of Manitoba was an easy one.Β The Bisons have a great history, a great coaching staff, and a great core group. I’m just hoping my brother and IΒ can add to that.
Parker, the 6’3″, 200# LB, began his secondary career at Dakota, but moved to the island, where he finished his high school playing days at John Barsby. While at Barsby Parker was part of a pair of provincial championship-winning teams, and on an individual level was the most outstanding grade 11 player and most outstanding linebacker for his conference.
Parker is looking forward to returning to his hometown to continue his football career. “I’m honoured and thrilled to be a Bison; the decision was easy for my brother and I. We both knew fromΒ the day Coach Dobie came to see us we were ready to come home. In becoming a Bison there are plenty of things to look forward to but for me it’s to be in an atmosphere where I can excel every day and not only become an outstanding football player but a person as well, which for me was the main focus in my decision-making. I feel I’ve made the best decision for myself Β along with my brother and we are both happy to be Manitoba Bisons.”
“Although the Bowles family left Winnipeg, we certainly kept a very close eye on both Quinton and Parker,” explained Bison recruiting co-ordinator Chris Clement. “Although this has been a long process I’m glad we get to add two great young men to our program.”
Parker and Quinton are the eighth and ninth recruits for the Bisons this year, and the fourth and fifth BC recruits. Quinton is the third defensive lineman and Parker is the first linebacker.
