Defensive back becomes second CEGEP standout to join OUA team’s 2014 class

An OUA team has landed another CEGEP standout to their 2014 class.

Recently, Marc-Olivier Dube committed to the York Lions.Β  The 5’10, 195 pound defensive back who is a native of Nicolet, Quebec but lives in Val Des Monts, Quebec said the Toronto, Ontario campus provides tremendous opportunities on the gridiron, academic and social fronts.

β€œI committed to York because it will allow me to play the CIS level, which is one of my dreams, while also giving me the opportunity to study in one of the best universities in the country,” explained Dube of his decision.Β  β€œAs well, the fact that York has a bilingual campus was an important factor in my decision as it will allow me to continue studying in French.”

β€œAs an added bonus, living in Toronto will be an awesome life experience which will help improve my English and build some lasting memories.”

Moreover, the strength of the football program and their recruitment efforts also swayed the Quebec defensive standout’s decision.

β€œAs far as the football program goes, I was very impressed with the quality and experience of the coaching staff,” added Dube.Β  β€œTheir recruiting philosophy is worthy of some of the best universities and they are serious about taking the necessary steps to build a successful team.”

β€œThey have a clear objective in mind and it will be an honor to be a part of their plans.”

The Quebec defensive back recently completed his CEGEP career with Division 3 team, Outaouais Griffons.Β  Previous to CEGEP, Dube suited up for his high school team, Polyvalente Nicolas Gatineau Phenix. Dube is the second CEGEP recruit to commit to York as he joins defensive back George Jean-Louis at the Ontario campus.
