Burlington Coaches Clinic: CFL alumnist Jason Riley to speak on Offensive Line play

Burlington, Ontario – Veteran Offensive Line coach Jason Riley to speak Saturday

CFL alumnist and current McMaster Marauder / Assumption high school coach Jason Riley will be speaking on something he knows well…Offensive Line.  His Saturday presentation will include a video presentation and demonstration from some of his McMaster players.

BIO:

Coach Riley was Vanier Cup Champion as a player in 1982, at UBC.  After being a first round draft pick in 1983 by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, he played 11 years in the CFL.  Riley started in four Grey Cups with the Hamilton Tiger-cats, where he played 10 years, winning one in 1986.  Since his retirement from football he has taught high school in Burlington and now teaches at Assumption HS, where he helped them win the Halton Championship this past 2013 season.

Over his career Riley was named the following:

  •     All-Canadian and Best Lineman in the Western Conference of the CIS in 1981 and 1982 with UBC
  •     CFL East All-Star in 1986, 1988, 1989, 1992 with Hamilton Tiger-cats
  •     CFL All-Star 1989
  •     Ti-Cat most valuable lineman 1992
  •     Charlotte Simmons Humanitarian Award, 1986
  •     Tiger-Cats Walk of Fame inductee, 1995
  •     Friend of Distinction winner at McMaster, 2006

Since joining McMaster’s coaching staff after his retirement as a player, Riley has helped build a strong offensive-line tradition at McMaster and has coached many athletes to the CFL.  As offensive line coach, he helped the Marauders win the most exciting Vanier Cup Championships in history, in 2011.  He is now entering his 20th season as Marauder offensive line coach.  Riley resides in Hamilton with wife Paulette and children Jordan, Jessica and Jason Jr., who also plays for the Marauders.
