Burlington Coaches Clinic: Hamilton Tiger Cat Simmons to speak on Defensive Backs

Hamilton Tiger Cats Marcello Simmons will be presenting on DEFENSIVE BACKS on Saturday.   Marcello Simmons arrives in Hamilton as an Assistant Defensive and Special Teams Coach.  In 2013, Simmons served as the defensive coordinator at Saint Mary’s University after one season as the Special Teams Coordinator with the Edmonton Eskimos.  Simmons is a great addition to the Clinic line up.

Marcello Simmons arrives in Hamilton as an Assistant Defensive and Special Teams Coach.

In 2013, Simmons served as the defensive coordinator at Saint Mary’s University after one season as the Special Teams Coordinator with the Edmonton Eskimos.

He began his coaching career in 2003 as the Special Teams Coordinator with the Toronto Argonauts and held that title for six seasons.  In 2009, he was an assistant coach with the NFL’s Seattle Seahawks before venturing north again for Defensive Backs Coach roles with Acadia University and the University of Guelph.

As a player, Simmons was selected by the Cincinnati Bengals with the 90th overall pick in the 1993 NFL Draft after finishing his collegiate career at Southern Methodist.  Following two seasons with the Bengals, Simmons attended training camp Jacksonville Jaguars before beginning his CFL playing career with the Argonauts in 1995.  He would also suit up with the Edmonton Eskimos (1999) and BC Lions (2000) before returning to Toronto to finish his playing career in 2001.

Simmons has been a part of three Grey Cup championship teams – two as a player and one as a coach.
