Steve Samways has had success at every level, and with every team, player or coach.Β We are excited that he will be a part of the Burlington Coaches Clinic, imparting his extensive knowledge on the ‘Power running game’.

BIO:
Involved as a player and assistant coach at the University of Western from 1982 to 2009. During that time he participated in 17 Yates Cup Championships and 7 Vanier Cup Championships. As a player he was a two time OUA All Star at Quarterback and a first team CIS All Canadian in 1985, and second team in 1986. He was named the OUA MVP in 1985. He graduated from Western in 1986 with a Honours Physical Education degree and a Bachelors of Education degree.
After his career at Western had finished in 2009,his overall record as a player and coach was 203 wins 56 losses and 4 ties.Β In 1995 he returned to his high school alma mater, A.B. Lucas Secondary School in London as a teacher and coach. Over his 20 years at Lucas he has coached championship teams in Basketball, Hockey and Football.
He has coached football 19 seasons at Lucas. During that time the Vikings have won 12 Division Championships, and appeared in 7 City Championship Finals. Lucas has been the Thames Valley Central Champion 3 times and winners of the 2011 OFSAA Western Bowl. From 1993 to 2013 Lucas has won 91 games and lost 32. His most significant accomplishment, at Lucas, has been the success of his players following graduation.
Approximately 44 former Viking football players have been on CIS and NCAA Rosters ( 1 Grey Cup Champion, 4 Vanier Cup Champions and 1 Rose Bowl Champion).
