Busch leads Team Petrie to WHSFL Senior Bowl victory

The 2014 WHSFL Senior Bowl had a decided Winnipeg Blue Bombers flavor to it as the practices occurred at IG Field; the game was played in IG Field and the teams were coached by Blue Bomber management – Team Petrie’s Head Coach was Bomber GM Kyle Walters and Team Gustafson’s Head Coach was Bomber President and CEO Wade Miller.

In the first half of a very hot day, both teams saw their defenses perform well. Team Bill Petrie took a 10-0 lead over Team Ron Gustafson thanks to some excellent receiver play by Kelvin’s Anthony Dyck (with a touchdown) and Sisler’s Riley Harrison.

In the third and fourth quarter Team Gustafson saw their offense begin to get rolling behind some fantastic runs by St. Paul’s Quarterback Xander Tachinski and West Kildonan running-back Tylor Byron.Β  Team Gustafson took the lead with touchdowns along the ground by Oak Park’s Xavier Prime and Tachinski.

Unfortunately stormy weather forced the game to be called midway through the 4th quarter due to lightning in the area surrounding IG Field.

Murdoch MacKay’s Drenin Busch was named player of the game as he had eight completions in 12 attempts for 150 passing yards and 1 passing touchdown, Β Additionally, Busch racked up 27 rushing yards on three carries.
