Butcher named to College Division Academic All-America Team

University of Saskatchewan Huskies football offensive lineman Josh Butcher has been named to the 2014 Capital One Academic All-America College Division Football Team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

The team recognizes the top student-athletes from NAIA, Canadian and two-year institutions.

Butcher entered the College of Medicine in 2014 with a 4.00 GPA from the College of Kinesiology. In 2014, he played in eight regular season contests and one playoff game on the offensive line, starting three at centre. During his two years in Kinesiology, the Edmonton native won the Second Year Book Prize and was on the Deanā€™s List both years. He was also a Huskie Athletics First Team All-Academic and a CIS Academic All-Canadian.

Butcher is the third Huskie athlete to be honoured by the Capital One Academic All-America program. In the 2011-12 season, hockey captain Kyle Ross and cross country/track & field captain Jodi Souter were both honoured by the program.
