Calgary defensive lineman joins AUS team’s 2016 class
Ernesto Flaviano is migrating from the Prairies to the East Coast.
Recently, the 5’10, 260 pound defensive lineman committed to StFX X-Men. Β Flaviano will join the team for the 2016 AUS season.
One of the main reasons the standout chose the Antigonish, Nova Scotia campus was the superior level of academics offered.
“The university offers a high quality of education,” elaborated Flaviano. Β “It is also ranked among the best universities in Canada for its athletics.”
“It also extends its motto beyond academics to the individual person. It is committed to the intellectual and spiritual development of students.”
Additionally, the X-Men’s ability to contend regularly in both the AUS Conference and the CIS was a lucrative selling point for the defensive standout.
“Itβs great football program,” commented Flaviano. Β “This includes the phenomenal coaching staff, which led the team to win the AUS Championship.”
“Offensive line coach Dave Van Den Heuvel, Offensive Coordinator Steve Snyder, and Head Coach Gary Waterman made me feel welcomed, enthusiastic, and proud to become an X-Men.”
Among the teams Flaviano has played for during his career include Bishop O’Byrne Wildcats of the Calgary Senior High School Athletic Association (CSHSAA) and South Calgary Colts organization. Moreover, he represented his home province as a member of Team Alberta at the 2015 Football Canada Cup in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec.
“After my signing, the overwhelming support of staff and team was astounding,” expressed Flaviano. Β “I cannot wait to become an exceptional part of this brotherhood.”
βThroughout my career in football, I knew this was not the end for me. I wanted to pursue more time showing my leadership skills, commitment and love of the game.β
