Cambridge Lions Have Perfect 5-0 Weekend


The Cambridge Pee Wee Varsity Lions opened the season 2-0 with a 46-0 win over the Brantford Bisons Friday night.
The offence was led by Quarterback Austin Gordon and Carlton Smith who ran for 167 yards and three touchdowns.

Defensively, the Lions forced fumbles, interceptions and QB sacks all night. Mark Ehrenfellner started the night with a big hit during the Bisons opening drive while Middle linebacker Drew Walden led the team in tackles, and John Grant, Baden Lamarre and Zac Sauer all contributed with QB pressure and sacks.

The Lions have outscored their first two opponents 80-0 and look to continue their winning with their first road game of the season against the Halton Cowboys next Sunday.

improved their record to 3-0 with a 60-0 win over the Brantford Bisons.

The Lions started strong with
a touchdown by Brayden Hill.

four second quarter scores followed with touchdowns by Kaden Jespersen
, Alex Salytchev, George Monaghan and another by Braden Hill. Defensively a Mitch Weiler interception led to a touchdown, while earlier in the quarter, Weiler had a big block that led to a turnover on downs.

The Lions finished off with touchdowns by Brandon Metz
and Kaden Jespersen’s second of the game in the fourth quarter.

A late game tackle by Cody Jones helped to keep Brantford off the scoreboard.

The Bantam Cambridge Lions scored a come from behind 21-13 win against the Halton Crimson tide Saturday.

Down 13-0 and having lost tailback
Jake to a knee injury, the defence, led by Frank Thorne, Brennan Walker, Brandon Piercey, Blake Foreman and Bailey Armstrong, kept The Lions in the game, forcing four Halton fumbles.

When it seemed that the game was getting out of reach Kevin Pham, in for Slinger, scored on a short run, followed by a Kyle Cole punt-return for a touchdown.

With the score 13-12, The Lions coaching staff opted for the two point conversion, and
Brad MacInnis threw a perfect pass WR Max Staats-Lomax. They finished with a sixty-yard touchdown drive to seal the come from behind victory.
