Cambridge Wolverines 6 and 4 on weekend


Cambridge Wolverines bantam Green lost a hard fought game to a much bigger and tougher Wentworth Panthers.

In the first quarter the Wolverines started off with fighting but the Panthers were the first to put up points. However, the Wolverines came back with a touchdown by Mitch Weiler.

George Monaghan tried to keep the momentum going with an interception but the Panthers had quarterback Brayden Hill under pressure and finished the quarter with an interception.

In the second half the offensive line and defensive line played hard with George Monaghan getting an interception early in the third and Kody Martin breaking free and sacking the panther quarterback.

The Wolverines battled hard all game, suffering numerous injuries but a big second quarter was too much to overcome as the Panthers defeated the Wolverines 40-6.

The Wolverines take on Brampton this Saturday at 2:00 at Jacob Hespeler Secondary School.

The Atom White Wolverines defeated the Brantford Bisons 26-8 to improve their season record to 3 – 1.

Liam Henderson had two touchdowns and received the MVP of the game. Nathan Warden received a beautiful pass from quarterback Aidan Carter for a touchdown. Warden received the offensive MVP of the game.

The Wolverines also had a big defensive game with big hits and lots of pressure from Nathan Steckle and Naleksia Dawes. London Dawson also had a strong defensive game which earned him the defencive MVP award.

The next game for the atom White Wolverines is Saturday at 10AM at Jacob Hespeler against the Halton Cowboys.

In SOFAL Football action, the Cambridge Wolverines went a combined 6-4 for the weekend. The tyke Gold team defeated the Hamilton-Wentworth Panthers 12-8 . They play at home this week Saturday at 8pm. The tyke Red Division team beat the Brantford Bisons 25-0. They play again Saturday at 6PM at Debt Freedom Field. The atom Red team lost to the Brantford Bisons 46-0.

In peewee action the Red Division team beat the Brantford Bisons 43-6. They play next Saturday at noon. In the White Division the Green team beat the Guelph Bears 36-0 and the Gold team lost to the Halton Cowboys 12-0. The Gold team play Sat 9:30PM at Jacob Hespeler School.

In Bantam action the Red Division team defeated the Niagara Storm 53-0 while the White Division Gold team lost in Brampton 6-2. The White Bantams play Saturday at four.
