Matthew O’Donnell (Kingston, ON) of Queen’s University and Brian Bulcke (Windsor, ON) of Stanford University are two rookie Canadians vying for a spot on an NFL roster. O’Donnell finished his four year CIS career as a first team all-Canadian and vanier cup winner in 2009. Bulcke, who was drafted sixth overall by the Edmonton Eskimos in 2010, finished his Stanford career with 51 tackles and 5 sacks. His Cardinals won the Orange Bowl at the beginning of 2011.

Brian Bulcke played his pre-university football at St. Anne high school and with the Essex Ravens minor program. He played in the first four games of the 2010 season before a thumb injury sidelined him for the remainder of the year. He had five tackles in four games, including two solo efforts. Brian is trying out for the San Francisco 49ers who are coached by his old college coach Jim Harbaugh.

Matt played his pre-university football at Holy Cross secondary school in Kingston. O’Donnell was chosen in the second round and 15th overall by the Saskatchewan Roughriders in 2011. O’Donnell was the fourth offensive lineman taken in the draft, but was the highest CIS offensive lineman selected. Matt is trying out for the Cincinnati Bengals.
Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
