CanWest Recruiting Wrap: UBC snags massive CFC60 quarterback transfer from the NCAA

Calgary Dinos

DB Joel Akhile

The University of Calgary have acquired a defensive back from the Colts. Joel Akhile is set to jump from the CJFL to U Sports.

β€œI chose Calgary because I feel that it’s the best place for me to get the best coaching at my position,” he states. β€œBeing acquainted with the technique from being coached by Dino’s alumni growing up in Calgary helped as well.”

Before he was with the Calgary Colts, Akhile played high school football for MCLA and spring ball for the Airdrie Raiders.

β€œMy goals are to be one of the hardest workers out there, prove my worth and hopefully help contribute to winning games leading into a championship,” he states.

Calgary’s new defensive recruit stands at 6’0″, 175lbs.

A wide receiver from North Vancouver has committed to the University of Calgary. Kael Williams will call Alberta home in 2023.

The Calgary Dinos have agreed to terms with an offensive lineman from Lethbridge. Greyson Rieder has been recruited by the U of C.

Rieder comes to the Dinos from CFC50 LCI, and at 6’3″, 280lbs Greyson could clog up some holes for his new team.

Manitoba Bisons

WR Rylan Klenk

A local wide receiver is set to join the Manitoba Bisons. Rylan Klenk is the latest prospect to sign with the U of M. The CFC50 Dakota Collegiate standout is 5’11, 165lbs.

Regina Rams

RB Jevon Garwood

A running back from B.C will head East to continue his football journey with the Rams. Jevon Garwood has agreed to join the University of Regina.

Garwood comes to the University of Regina from the CJFL’s Okanagan Sun. Before he was there, he played high school ball for the CFC25 Langley Rams.

β€œMy goal is to be a great player on and off the field and also win championships,” he states.

The Rams’ new offensive threat weighs in at 5’8″, 180lbs.

LB Andy Stewart

The University of Regina has landed a linebacker from Regina. Andy Stewart can stay in his hometown to continue his dream of playing football at the next level. Stewart went to F.W. Johnson Collegiatw, and will bring a sturdy 6’0″, 180lbs to the Regina Rams.

UBC Thunderbirds

CFC60 QB Jack Zergiotis

A new superstar quarterback has signed a contract with the Thunderbirds. Jack Zergiotis will continue his post-secondary career in Canada. The young stud grew up in Montreal, and has played football for UConn and Merrimack in the NCAA since 2019.
