CEGEP longsnapper signs with Vanier Cup Champions
For Nicholas Gravel, there has only ever been one choice when it came to his CIS career.
The 5ā11, 226 pound longsnapper from Rigaud, Quebec has committed to Vanier Cup Champions, Montreal Carabins.Ā Gravel will join the team for the 2015 RSEQ season.
āMontreal was my first choice because ever since I began playing football in 2007, I’ve been watching the team play and evolve,ā elaborated Gravel.Ā āPlus, I had the chance to experience a football practice hosted by some Carabins players like Hamid Mahmoudi when I was with the Citadins.ā
āIn college, almost every coach I met was a Carabins product and the people who inspired me most are from this program.ā
Gravel completed a stint with CEGEP Division 1 team Vieux-Montreal Spartiates after he transferred from Edouard-Montpetit Lynx. The Spartiates were 2014 CEGEP Division 1 Bol DāOr Champions.
āCoach ChĆ©rif [Nicolas] used me a lot on the practice squad since I had a five game suspension for transferring,ā explained Gravel.Ā āWhen I got eligible, he gave me the starting longsnapper spot.ā
āIt was a dream to play for the Spartiates and I did, on a Bol d’Or conquest which was our only aspiration.
Previous to CEGEP, he played five seasons as an offensive/defensive lineman for Cite de Jeunes Citadins. Additionally, he made Alouettes Classic at the linebacker position in 2011.
