Carabins gave CFC60 commit offer he couldn’t look past

The Carabins add a top local commit to their 2019 class.

Even though he was sidelined with an ankle injury for most of this season, CFC60 Carl Chabot, a wide receiver from Collège Lionel-Groulx, didn’t need much time to catch the interest of the University of Montréal Carabins.

“They presented me a good academic and football plan,” Chabot said of the Carabins. “Also, they had everything that I was looking for, so I decided to jump on this amazing opportunity.” He added that the Carabins have “a very passionate and talented coaching staff.”

Chabot, who is interested in getting a degree in finance, has played for several teams in his career. He spent one season with the Blainville Jaguars and five with his high school team, Les Centurions de la polyvalente Deux-Montagnes (RSEQ). In cégep, he spent one season with Les Notre-Dame du Campus Notre-Dame-de-Foy (RSEQ Division 1) before joining Les Nordiques du Collège Lionel-Groulx (RSEQ Division 1).

In 2015, Chabot was named as a league offensive MVP. He won a Bol d’Or the following year. He was also an all-star receiver in 2017. The 5’7, 175lbs receiver is currently located in Sainte-Thérèse, Québec, which is north of Montréal.

While the 2019 season is still several months away, Chabot cannot contain his excitement. “I’m excited about what’s coming up and the new challenges that come with it,” he said. “I also want to make an impact as a freshman.”

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
