Carleton University has been moving full-steam ahead on plans for the return of varsity football in 2013.
Since the July announcement, the university and the Old Crows football alumni have been developing a search process for the position of head coach, which will be posted in November and close following the Vanier Cup/Grey Cup.
Russ Buckland, an Old Crow and managing partner of Bedford Consulting Group/Transearch, will be assisting in the search. Carleton has also formed an advisory committee comprised of Old Crows, students, faculty, staff and the community to provide feedback on criteria for the position.
An announcement about the head coach is expected early in 2012.
As well, Carleton is pleased to announce that Thomas Timlin has accepted a contract position as Manager, Football Operations. He will help develop the support structure and business plan for the successful return of football to the university.
Timlin brings 24 years of marketing and project management experience to Carleton. He is an active community coach in the high school and club football system and was a four-year captain of Ravens football in the 1980s. He was inducted into the Carleton Hall of Fame in 1997.
The tireless efforts of Ravens alumni have ensured that football is returning to Carleton. The program is made possible primarily by the financial support of Carleton graduates, led by a donation of more than $2.5 million from Ottawa entrepreneur John Ruddy.
Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
