CEGEP Division 3 linebacker duo joins OUA team’s 2016 class
Carleton Ravens have the distinction of being the first team to kick start Class 2016 recruitment in the OUA.
The Ottawa, Ontario team has landed a pair of CEGEP teammates. Vincent Viau Duval and Josh Denis are a linebacker tandem that play on CEGEP Division 3’s Outaouais Griffons.
Both recruits will join the Ravens for the 2016 OUA season.
“The 2016 recruiting has started and we are proud to announce the signing of Vincent Viau Duval and Josh Denis,” commented Ravens Head Coach Steve Sumarah. “Picking up two CEGEP players was a great start for what we hope will be an excellent class.”
“Josh and Vince have played together at the CEGEP de Outaouais in Gatineau and follow in the footsteps of Jeremy Rioux from last year. We are excited to have them joining the Ravens as they are both excellent student-athletes. We look forward to their contributions in the program both on and off the field.”
This past season with the Griffons, Viau Duval registered 34.5 tackles, recorded six sacks and caught an interception. For his efforts, the 6’3, 220 pound linebacker from Gatineau, Quebec was selected as a CEGEP Division 3 All-Star.
Ultimately, the opportunity to make an immediate impact on the football team and the welcoming environment were the decisive factors in Viau Duval’s decision to commit to the Ravens.
“I chose Carleton Ravens Football program because I want make a difference at my first year on defence and on special teams,” expressed the CEGEP linebacker. “This family is very special and they have a nice atmosphere.”
“The coaching staff is awesome and I’m very excited to be a part of this team.”
Previous to the Ravens, Denis suited up for RSEQ Juvenile Division 2B’s Polyvalente de L’Erabliere Jaguars.
