Pair of Ottawa area recruits join OUA team’s 2016 class.
This past weekend, the Carleton Ravens announced the addition of a pair of local recruits to their football program.
Nathan Carter and Josh Scott are the newest Ravens.Β Both will join the team for the 2016 OUA season.
NATHAN CARTER:
The 5β7, 165 pound running back/defensive back from Ottawa, Ontario is currently suiting up for St. Patrickβs Fighting Irish of the National Capital Secondary School Athletic Association (NCSSAA) as well as the Ottawa Stampeders of the National Capital Amateur Football Association (NCAFA).
With the Irish, Carter rushed for over 900 yards and scored seven touchdowns last year.Β Additionally, he caught two interceptions, registered three solo tackles and tallied another major as a halfback.
In addition to the Irish, Carter has played for the Ottawa Myers Riders of the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL) as well as both the NCAFAβs Kanata Knights and South Ottawa Mustangs.
βNathan Carter is an athlete with quickness and speed from Ottawa,β commented Ravens Head Coach Steve Sumarah.Β βAnother player we had a chance to work with during the AIA game and saw tons of potential in him.β
βHe is a very versatile player that can play a multitude of positions.Β We are excited to have him become a Raven.β
With his commitment to the Ravens, the two-way standout will extend a family tradition of sorts.Β However, the comfort level he felt from the moment he first step foot onto the campus a few months ago was the main reason he chose the OUA team.
βI joined Carleton mainly cause I like the program the coaches and the entire atmosphere of the Ravens organization they treated me like family as soon as I walked into their doors around mid-summer when they invited me to come workout with their team,β elaborated Carter.Β βThey made me feel like I was a Raven.β
βThat’s not all; my father attended Carleton in his university days and I would like to continue that tradition.β
JOSH SCOTT:
Scott is a 6β3, 230 pound defensive lineman from Ottawa, Ontario.Β He is a teammate of Carterβs on the St. Patrick Fighting Irish of the National Capital Secondary School Athletic Association (NCSSAA).
βWe had a chance to work with him at the AIA game and our Elite camp, we were very impressed with his jump off the ball and his tenacity,β said Sumarah of Scott.Β βHe has flown under the radar a little but he will make a big impact down the road as a true pass rusher.Β β
βWe are happy to have him commit and be a Raven.β
