Catterall, Schutte and Taylor named Week 4 AUS Football Players of the Week

October 5, 2010 (HALIFAX, N.S.) – StFX wide receiver Jordan Catterall, Saint Mary’s defensive lineman Dan Schutte and Saint Mary’s receiver and kick returner Jahmeek Taylor have been named the Atlantic University Sport Football Players of the Week for the period ending October 3rd, 2010.

Wide receiver Jordan Catterall of the StFX X-Men is the Atlantic University Sport Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending October 3rd, 2010. Jordan, a first year Business student from Oakville, ON, led the X-Men with three touchdown receptions Saturday afternoon in their 37-26 Homecoming win over the Mount Allison Mounties. He had a total of four receptions in the game for 109 yards, including his TD catches of 45, 20 and 9 yards, all in the first half. Jordan, who had one rush for seven yards, also saw time on the kick return team, picking up 41 yards on two returns.

Saint Mary’s defensive lineman Dan Schutte is the Atlantic University Sport Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending October 3rd, 2010. Schutte, a fourth year student-athlete from Red Deer, AB, registered three solo tackles, including two sacks as the Huskies picked up their first win of the season with a 45-10 victory over the Acadia Axemen Friday night in Halifax. Dan, a conference all-star in 2007 and 2008, currently leads the league with 5.0 sacks through four games.
Special Teams Player of the Week

Saint Mary’s receiver and kick returner Jahmeek Taylor has been named the Atlantic University Sport Special Teams Player of the Week. Taylor, a third year player from Mississauga, ON, had an outstanding game this past weekend as the Huskies registered their first win of the season with a 45-10 victory over the Acadia Axemen. Taylor, the 2008 AUS Rookie of the Year, returned 11 punts for 188 yards, including an 83-yard return for a major late in the third quarter. Jahmeek also had a kickoff return of seven yards, caught a pass for 15 yards and carried the ball three times for 70 yards and another TD in the win. Taylor racked up 280 all-purpose yards in the game and his 188 yards on punt returns are the fourth-highest total ever recorded in an AUS game. Jahmeek currently leads the Atlantic conference in both punt return yards (317) and kickoff return yards (150).
