CEGEP recruit believes McGill “has everything to become a winning team”

CEGEP defensive back joins RSEQ team’s 2016 class

McGill Redmen continues to be aggressive in their 2016 recruitment drive.

Yesterday, the team announced the addition of Vincent Dethier to their football program.Β  The 5’11, 207 pound defensive back from Boisbriand, Quebec will join the team for the 2016 RSEQ season.

For his part, Dethier chose the Redmen because of the academic reputation.Β  Moreover, he was impressed by coaching staff, especially Ron Hilaire’s impact early on in his tenure as Head Coach.

β€œI chose McGill for the quality of its education,” elaborated Dethier.Β  β€œIt’s a world renowned university.”

β€œIt will give me the opportunity of becoming fully bilingual. I believe that they have all the resources both in academics and athletics to help me achieve my goals. I was really impressed by the new coaching staff enthusiasm and experience. Coach Hilaire has an impressive background and has a recruited a very dedicated coaching staff. I believe that McGill has everything to become a winning team.”

Recently, Dethier has played with CEGEP Division 2 team Lionel-Groulx Nordiques.Β  This past season, the defensive back caught five interceptions, scored a touchdown and registered 24.5 tackles.
