CEGEP recruit confident with choosing Vert et Or

CEGEP receiver joins RSEQ team’s 2016 class.

Yanni Khennache will be staying home to extend his gridiron career.

Recently, the 5’11, 175 pound receiver committed to local CIS team, Sherbrooke Vert et Or. Β Khennache will join the team for the 2016 RSEQ season.

For his part, committing to the team was something Khennache envisioned since he played with the Mini Vert et Or club when he was 11 years old.

“I’’ve been amazed about the evolution of the football program in Sherbrooke; it keeps going forward,” expressed the receiver. Β “The first thing on my mind, when it comes to deciding where you are going to study is the programs of education offered by the university and so, their administration (business) branch is a great one with great teachers; they also offer help and support when in need.”

“Staying in Sherbrooke will also mean staying at my parents home, which is very fortunate because I have space to study and live without paying an apartment; I especially thanks my family for that luck. The evolution of the football program, the education program and the fact that it is in my hometown are the main reasons I came in Sherbrooke. It’s been now a month and a half that I have been training every day with the team and I can assure you that I made the right choice, everybody in the organisation is working hard and it drives us a lot.”

In 2015, Khennache amassed 411 receiving yards with CEGEP Division 2 team, Sherbrooke Volontaires. Β Additionally, the offensive standout racked up 303 and 116 receiving yards in his first and second years with the team respectively.

Previous to the Volontaires, Khennache suited up for his high school team, Sherbrooke Barons.
