β€œI chose McGill because of their great academic program,” explained Martel of his decision.Β  β€œI also think that they have everything to be great!”

β€œThe new additions of Coach Ron [Hilaire], Coach [Benoit] Groulx and Coach [Sebastien] LΓ©vesque helped a lot with my decision because like every football player, I want to win and everywhere they go their team performs.Β I was with them at Team QuΓ©bec and we finished first in the tournament. So I chose McGill for the school and the new Hilaire era!”

This past season with CEGEP Division 2’s Lionel-Groulx Nordiques, Martel rushed for 1028 yards on 124 carries (average of 8.3 yards per carry) and scored eight touchdowns.
