CEGEP linebacker joins RSEQ tean’s 2016 class.
Philippe Ouellet has high expectations for the McGill Redmen in the near distant future.
So much so, that he wants to help them achieve greater heights.
The 6β4, 240 pound middle linebacker from Quebec City, Quebec has committed to the Redmen. Ouellet will join the team for the 2016 RSEQ season.
βI chose McGill because I believe in Coach [Ron] Hilaire and his coaching staff,β explained Ouellet of his decision.Β βI think that McGill may be on the top again in a couple of years.β
Academics played a significant role in his decision to opt for the Redmen.
βAlso because it is the best university in Canada and I am a student before an athlete,β added the Quebec defensive standout.Β βThe academic part has always been important for me.β
βFor my future career, McGill was the best choice I could do because it gives me the opportunity to improve my English while studying in world renowned university.β
This fall, Ouellet is completing his final season with CEGEP Division 1 team, FX-Garneau Elans.Β In 2015, the linebacker has registered 52.5 tackles (42 solo and 21 assisted), recorded four sacks, caught an interception, had nine tackles for a loss and a touchdown.
Previous to the Elans, the defensive standout suited up for RSEQ Juvenile Division 1βs Roger Comptois Patriots.
