CEGEP recruit hopes to achieve bilingualism at McGill

CEGEP defensive lineman newest recruit to join RSEQ team’s 2015 class.

For Rodrigue Caron, academics played a significant part in his commitment decision.

Recently, the 5’11, 245 pound defensive lineman from Gaspesie (Maria), Quebec signed with the McGill Redmen.Β  Caron will join the team for the 2015 RSEQ season.

β€œMcGill is known as one of the best universities in the world,” explained Caron of his decision. Β β€œBut the major reason why, I chose McGill it is because I want to finish my bachelor degree as a bilingual.”

β€œMy maternal language is French. Β My English is also good but not good as I want it to be.”

The Quebec defensive lineman comes to the Redmen after completing a stint with CEGEP Division 3 team, Rimouski Pionniers.Β  Previous to the Pionniers, Caron played for Baie des Chaleurs Carcajou.

Not only has he been successful as a defensive lineman, but he has played at the linebacker position as well as on the offensive line.
