CEGEP recruit hopes to make early impact with Gaiters

Lennoxville defensive back joins RSEQ team’s 2015 class.

It’s a dream realized for Jacob Nutbrown.

Recently, the 6’2, 195 pound defensive back (halfback/safety) from Lennoxville, Quebec committed to the Bishop’s Gaiters.Β  Nutbrown will join the team for the 2015 RSEQ season.

Ultimately, Nutbrown felt the Gaiters provided him the best opportunity to develop and succeed into the as a gridiron player.Β  Moreover, the chance to play for the local CIS team was too good of an offer for the defensive back to pass up.

β€œI chose Bishop’s University because I believe that the program has a bright future and that I can make an impact early on in my career,” commented the Quebec defensive standout of his commitment.Β  β€œI also spent my summer training with a lot of the guys on the team which allowed me to already start building chemistry.”

β€œBeing born and raised in Lennoxville, and now having the opportunity to be part of the Gaiters organization is like a dream come true.”

Nutbrown comes to the Gaiters after completing his CEGEP career with Division 1 team, Champlain-Lennoxville Cougars. This past season was a tough one for the defensive back as he was sidelined for the bulk of the season with a torn ACL – an injury he suffered halfway through the second game of the regular season.Β  In two games, he registered 11 tackles, two tackles for a loss, a forced fumble and two defended passes.
