CEGEP recruit lured by Stingers’ ‘family values’

Beloeil linebacker recently joins RSEQ team’s 2015 class.

Louis-Jean Guimond was looking for an opportunity to excel at the CIS level and beyond.

The 5ā€™11, 240 pound linebacker/longsnapper from Beloeil, Quebec found it as he signed with the Concordia Stingers.Ā  Guimond will join the team for the 2015 RSEQ season.

ā€œI chose Concordia because they promote family spirit as the most important thing,ā€ explained the Quebec linebacker of his decision. ā€œPlayers and coaches seem to be very close to each other and that is the most important thing for me.ā€

ā€œThey were also a very competitive team last year. I think Concordia will be a very good team in the next five years and can aspire for a championship. I want to be a part of this rebuilding project and I think that Concordia is the best place to help me go to the next level.ā€

Recently, Guimond completed a stint with CEGEP Division 1ā€™s Edouard-Montpetit Lynx.Ā  This past season, he finished ninth in the division for tackles with 53 (45 solo, 16 assisted.Ā  Additionally, the linebacker recorded a sack, caught two interceptions and a batted pass.
