CEGEP defensive end joins Vanier Cup Champions’ 2015 class.
Pierre-Oliver Laurendeau will stay in his home province to embark on the CIS chapter of his gridiron career.
Recently, the 6β0, 225 pound defensive end from Saint-Jean-Baptiste, Quebec committed to the Montreal Carabins.Β Laurendeau will join the Vanier Cup Champions for the 2015 RSEQ season.
Ultimately, academics as well the opportunity to excel as a student-athlete were main decisive factors why Laurendeau chose the Carabins.
βI chose MontrΓ©al mainly for the Aerospace engineering program,β commented Laurendeau.Β βI did a three year program in CEGEP in the same field and it was very practical (hands on).β
βKnowing that the Γcole Polytechnique de MontrΓ©al is very theoretical, I thought it would be a perfect way to complete my studies (having both practical and theoretical experience).Β Also, I really like the team spirit that the Carabins have. All in all, the University of MontrΓ©al seems like the best place for me to develop as both a student and an athlete.β
Laurendeau completed a stint with CEGEP Division 1βs Edouard-Montpetit Lynx.Β This past season, the defensive end registered 43 tackles, 16 assisted tackles, recorded four quarterback sacks, caught an interception and had six tackles for a loss.
