CEGEP recruit opts for X-Men

CEGEP athlete joins AUS team’s 2015 class

StFX X-Men have announced the addition of Faheem Andy Jean-Pierre to their football program.

The 6ā€™1, 210 pound athlete from Terrebonne, Quebec will join the team for the 2015 AUS season.

ā€œFaheem is a physical player,ā€ commented X-Men Head Coach Gary Waterman.Ā  ā€œHe has showcased an ability to play in the box, in the flats, or over top.ā€

ā€œWe really like Faheem; he is a great addition to this defense and we also think he has the ability to be a standout on special teams.ā€

Jean-Pierre recently completed his CEGEP career with Division 1 team, Montmorency Nomades.Ā  Previous to the Nomades, he guided the Saint-Leonard Cougars to a Championship in 2010.

For his part, Jean-Pierre chose the X-Men because of academic, the positive direction the football program is heading as well as the bonds he has forged with the coaching staff.

ā€œI committed to StFX because I know that they’re headed in the right direction; they lost against Mount Allison and had a big comeback in the semi-final against Acadia,ā€ explained Jean-Pierre who will be entering the Bachelor of Arts program this fall.Ā  ā€œWe’re headed in the right direction I’m telling you!ā€

ā€œAlso, the smaller classes that make learning easier and the fact that StFX is one of the top undergraduate schools in Canada helped me with my decision. I have developed a good relationship with Coach Gord Gallimore.ā€
