CEGEP recruit picks Laval

CEGEP offensive lineman joins RSEQ team’s 2016 class

After a lot of deliberation, Philippe Cantin has finally chosen where he will begin his CIS career.

The 6’4, 300 pound offensive lineman from Iberville, Quebec has committed to the Laval Rouge et Or. Cantin will join the team for the 2016 RSEQ season.

Academics played an integral part in his decision as only a few institutions had what he was specifically looking for and thus narrowed down his choices. Additionally, the opportunity to be part of a tradition of excellence as well as making the move to a major city appealed to Cantin.

β€œI have committed to Laval because they were one of the only three universities to offer studies in Agronomics in Canada (Guelph and McGill were the others),” commented the offensive lineman.Β  β€œThe final choice was between McGill and Laval and the fact that Laval has all the buildings and sports installations on the same campus made a big difference.”

β€œBeing a country boy, I also felt better in Quebec City than Montreal. The coaches are great and have made their proof and the program has a winning tradition that everyone know.”
