CEGEP linebacker/defensive end joins RSEQ team’s 2016 class

Alexandre Pare will be staying in his home province to begin his CIS career.

Recently, the 6’2, 230 pound linebacker/defensive end from Quebec City, Quebec has committed to the McGill Redmen.  Pare will join the team for the 2016 RSEQ season.

Overall, academics played a significant part in why Pare opted for the Redmen.  Moreover, he is looking forward to joining a football program that has stature.

“A huge factor of my McGill commitment is the school itself, “added the defensive standout.  “I have developed a passion towards the medical field and I believe McGill’s education will bring me to the next level and help me accomplish my objectives.”

“The student-athlete support available was also a big factor in my decision due to the lengthy studies ahead. Many great football players will accompany me in this new adventure as well as many friends, making this experience even more exciting. I am thrilled to be part of such a great university as well as a distinguished football program.”

This past season, Pare suited up for CEGEP Division 1 team Campus Notre-Dame-de-Foy (CDNF).  In 2015, he was the team’s leading tackler with (including 12 assisted tackles).  Additionally, Pare recorded five sacks.

Previous to CNDF, the defensive standout played south of the border for US prep team, Kent Lions.  Pare was named All New England Player and Defensive MVP as well as selected as a NEPSAC Class A All-Star during the 2014 season.  Furthermore, he led the team in tackles with 58 (including 35 assisted tackles) and sacks with eight in eight games.

During his high school career with RSEQ Juvenile Division 1 team Seminaire Saint Francois Blizzard, he became the league’s Lineman of the Year and selected as an all-star.
